#245 “It's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.” ― George Ellis

 Good day, all!

Being on ships and keeping stores, spares and tools in an extra amount as a safety precaution led me to follow the same at home too. Yes, it was logical for this part of the world, where we may not be able to get things when shops are closed during night hours and other holidays. Not actually hoarding. Small items for plumbing, electrical and electronics jobs, most used battery types and necessary tools. Printer cartridges, paper, etc., too. Computer peripherals like keyboard, mouse, etc during the good old days of relying on desktop computers were needed for diagnosing any glitches faced. All these are more relevant as I live in a rural area, and accessing shops turns out to be tedious, and the expenses incurred for commuting. Maybe the most important thing is the time factor, affecting the workflow drastically. This procedure is not common in my locality, as a money-saving measure is followed here. But I already saved a lot of money and time so far, and being a DIY fan saved a lot on labour charges too. So I should say that all my expenditures for this procedure has broke even, at least.

So to justify my way, I used to compare the case of keeping licensed shotguns in some countries where they are allowed for their protection. They may never use it in their lifetime, but it assures safety, and they never complain about the price they pay. And recently, I stumbled upon the phrase and further googled to know that it was made famous or formed by George Ellis, whose name I was familiar with, but I could not find out when or how. So I think this is a simple post I have taken up, said enough and closing it.

Thanks to all,

George A P.

#244 Carrying Coal To Newcastle!

 Good day, all!

Once again, let me state that I am trying to take as absolute a position as possible and talk about what is apparent to me. I do not know how much material science and/ or spirituality have progressed at all.

With the title adage, I am trying to point to the present day developement of  AI, or rather artificial intelligence. The primary question I had was whether we are running short of innate intelligence. Sorry that I can not use 'natural' as I am going to contradict me mentioning earlier that there is nothing unnatural. To me, from my vantage point, everything we perceive is unnatural. Sorry for blurting it out. The basic reason is all over my posts, and you may have to get out of all four quadrants of theism/atheism. Shell out the devotion, adoration, stubbornness, and inaction. Free up your mind. Now the answer to my primary question is that I feel, like the inertia of materials, we too resist physical/ mental labour. As I believe the sages of yesteryears tried to attain what they wished, just by sitting or wandering around, thinking, and they apparently had succeeded. Now, material science is providing the same thing to common people. It was a gradual one, up to the invention of the computer, then the pace was quite drastic. Physics was real, but mathematics was pure imagination(non-real), and chemistry and biology had to follow the first two leaders. I really misunderstood the importance of the Economics stream, which links the humans together, and the digital currency transactions of today are really marvellous. Regret I misunderstood the importance of it. I don't say that the good old material science is obsolete, but they don't permeate to the common people (Or at least I would like to believe that way). It makes the AI work far more easily. As I said earlier, I am not a reformer and am blaming what is going around me, so that the scenario may change. So, the AI provides means for an easy living without labouring much. People are no more intersested in developing the innate intelligence. This may be clearer in the next paragraph, where I take up the title issue and the unnatural nature!

AI works mostly with vision and magic, too. It is about the least distance of distinct vision, the horizon span and the memory effect of vision which makes a video possible. Vision is all about video, as time can not stop. The culprit is the memory effect, which makes the clarity of vision impossible. Hearing is not easily beaten, as material science is not really good at tampering with it and with other senses too. Interactive voice response systems, even up to Google maps use human voice, I believe. An eyewitness is supposed to hold a very important role in proving anything, but an English style shake-hand is really needed to make it worth considering the possibility of 3d projections(I had seen it in one quite old English movie). Artificial root word basically defines art, skill and science. The world we see may be an artificial one created by the creator using its skills. And the memory effect of the vision/ brain combination is suited for it. Even though I do not want to bring the term God in here, you might have heard that the human year is smaller than God's year in mythology/ theology, etc. So if my 1 year is equal to someone else's 12 years, and if both are capable of working in the same space, what I try to do in 1 second, the other one gets 12 seconds. And I will never have an idea in that one second of mine. Here goes the cause and effect theory!

Incomplete, to continue.
